Why Jesus?

We first need to realise that our very existence centers around Jesus. Not only as believers, but those who are yet unbelievers also.

John 1:1-4, 10-11
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, without Him nothing was made that was made. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

Hebrews 1:1-3
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on High.

Colossians 1:15-17
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or pwers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

WHO IS JESUS?
His deity
Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.1  The above scriptures witness to the fact that Jesus existed before time began, and that He was involved in creation.2  Indeed all things existing in both the spiritual and physical realms were created by Him and for Him.3  Jesus sits on the throne at the right hand of the Father.4  He is the heir of all things and all things are subject to Him.5  Each of us has been created and designed especially for Jesus, and through knowing Him and having a personal relationship with Him we can find out who we really are and our life can have true meaning.6

Saviour
When God created Adam, he was made in the image of God. However Adam sinned, and passed that sin onto all mankind. Within ourselves there is nothing we can do to save ourselves from sin, guilt and hell.

However, God became flesh in the form of His Son Jesus, and dwelt among us without losing His godly nature or identity. He died for our sins, though He himslelf was sinless, and rose from the dead. It is difficult to fully understand these truths unless we can accept them at a personal level:  "...I now live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me" John 1:14,29; John 3:16-17; Galations 2:20

Unbelievers often make two false assumptions:
a)   they assume the issue of salvations doesn't matter
b)   the assume they can avoid Jesus forever.
In both cases they are wrong.

Lord of the Resurrection.
Every person who has ever existed will one day come face to face with Jesus - Whether they believe in Him or not. The time will ome when He will call forth every person from the dead. For the sincere Christian, it will be a time of tremendous joy., however, for the unbeliever it will be more like receiving a summons to court to answer for your crimes. John 5:25-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:16
