God
was dancing. It wasn't a controlled dance like people dance. It was
different. The angels watched from afar off, enchanted as the shiny
outline of God's form moved around in circles to and fro. They stood
with eyes wide open with awe staring at their creator who was jubilantly
moving about to a unheard melody. Although they could not see His face,
they felt the joy radiating from it. They sensed that something great
must have happened.
Having
watched for awhile they grew restless and wondered what could have happened
to cause God to dance so joyfully. They had never seen such a thing,
except of-course when Jesus His only son, was born to Mary the young
girl who loved God very much.
So
they all went to see the angel Gabriel, after all, Gabriel was God's
Messenger, and if something big had happened he would know, wouldn't
he?
There was Gabriel standing valiantly with his note book in his hand
ready to write down messages God would gave him.
One
by one, they questioned Gabriel. But he had no answers for them. He
searched his note book to see if there was any mention of it in an earlier
message. But the only one of any huge importance was the Birth of Jesus.
Gabriel
remembered this very well because he was the one who had taken the message
to Mary. He began to tell them about it. They listened as he told them
how God, had told him to take this special message to Mary, the young
girl, who was no different than any other girls, except that she loved
God very much.
Gabriel
told them about the shepherds and the wise men. The other angels listened
intently for some of them had been there at those amazing moments in
time when they were a part of the greatest event that had ever taken
place in the whole universe, 'the birth of God's Son'. But even as they
remembered that awesome event they couldn't concentrate, because the
movements of God's joyful dancing seemed to make everything move with
it.
When
nothing had turned up in Gabriels notebook, he suggested they search
the Scriptures to see if there was anything the prophets had written
in it that might help them understand what would cause God to behave
in such a fashion. Why, if there was something great to happen it would
be written in the Holy Bible, wouldn't it?
But,
there was no mention in the Holy Bible about anything that would cause
God to behave this way.
So
they asked Gabriel if there was anyone else they could go and see to
find out the reason behind God's dancing. Gabriel suggested the go and
talk to Michael.
So
with Gabriel in the lead and the other angels following behind they
went to see Michael.
Why,
if any body knew what was going on, it would be Michael... Michael the
warrior prince.
Michael
watched with his hand on his sword which rested in the scabbard on his
belt as his fellow angels approached.
While
they were still afar off he began to wonder what could be their reason
for this a visit.
When
they finally got to him, it was Gabriel who spoke first.
"Have
you sensed something wonderful today?" Gabriel asked. Michael replied
he had, but he did not know what was the cause of it. Gabriel told him
what the other angels had said.
Michael
told them that it had amazed him when he had first found out about it,
after all nothing like this had happened before. But he had not given
much thought to it.
"God
dancing! Why that is something great. We must find out the cause of
it,"
Michael
announced. "Now that you have come to me, you have made more curious
to find out what's going on. Come, let us go see God and find out what
is causing him to behave this way."
When
they arrived, Michael called out to God, but God didn't seem to hear.
God was too caught up in the dancing.
Gabriel
turned to the other angels and said, "what are we to do now."
Michael
was already heading off in another direction. The angels to started
walking towards him and finally caught up to him.
"Where
are you going now?" they asked him.
"I
am going to see Jesus. We must find out what is going on!" When they
finally found Jesus, he too was dancing with just as much vigour as
God.
Michael
called out to Jesus. When Jesus heard Michael calling him he stopped
dancing. He walked over to Michael and placed a hand on Michael's shoulder.
Smiling, he asked Michael what was the matter. Micheal told him the
whole story of God dancing and how no one knew why.
"And
now," he said, "We find You dancing as well. What is the reason for
this, my Lord?"
Jesus
looked at him and the other angels who stood nearby awaiting an answer.
"Little
Nina was born today," Jesus replied with a smile on His face. Then he
walked a little distance away from the angels and began to dance again
as the angels watched on not sure what to do next.

3:17 (NKJV)
The Lord your God, in the midst, the Mighty One,
will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
